Review | A Wizard of Earthsea | Ursula K. Le Guin

A Wizard of Earthsea by Ursula K. Le Guin follows the prideful young wizard Sparrowhawk as he discovers his magic, releases a terrible shadow, then spends a decade defeating the monster he created.

What I like ✅ a realistically flawed protagonist ✅ great moral lessons on overcoming the darkness within, pride, power and desire; a Taoist parable cleverly disguised as a fantasy novel ✅ a unique magic system ✅ beautiful prose ✅ DRAGONS

What I didn't like ✖ a lot of passive narration, while this is the style of the book, it did become excessive ✖ needed more subplots to help with character building ✖ needed to linger on more on details and moments, such as Ged's life at the magic school Rating 4/5 🌟 Genre: fantasy, young adult Verdict: RECOMMENDED ✅ QOTD: What's your favourite mythical creature?
