Review | The Princess Bride | William Goldman

A classic tale with a princess, true love, sword fights and adventure, with a twist!

What I liked

✅ Fezzik, Vizzini and Inigo were the stand-outs amongst a great cast of amusing, well-written characters

✅ very humorous, clever, playful and a little bit silly (in a good way)

✅ well-written, all-too-quotable, dialogue

What I didn't like ✖ the faux-autobiographical content of William Goldman interrupted the story too often, dragged on and on, and soured the enjoyment of the novel

✖ a long, drawn-out introduction before any of the story is told

✖ Buttercup's Baby (the short story included at the end of my edition) was nonsensical, rambling and didn't add anything to the narrative

Rating 3/5 🌟

Genre: fantasy, children's

Verdict: The movie was better than the book!
