Genre: Young Adult, sci-fi, fantasy
A solid addition to the bible of Brandon Sanderson, Steelheart is about evil superheroes ("Epics") ruling a post-apocalyptic, dystopian earth.
What I like ✅ a fresh and interesting take on the superhero genre
✅ a fast-paced, straightforward, fun book to read
✅ plenty of twists and turns in the plot to keep you reading
What I didn't like ✖ needed stronger character-building, adding complexity to the characters and more depth to their relationships
✖ light and fluffy — you'll read it, feel good, and put it down and not think of it again
✖ lacking Sanderson's usual "oomph" — in world-building, characters, magic systems, themes and morals
Things to consider ➖ lots of made up swear words like "sparks" and "calamity" Rating 3.5/5 🌟 Verdict
