Review | Red Queen | Victoria Aveyard

Genre: sci-fi, fantasy, dystopian, young adult

Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard tells the story of Mare, a Red who wants to revolutionise a world where Silvers rule, who discovers she holds supernatural powers.

What I like ✅ it's a really entertaining read if you don't expect it to live up to the hype ✅ interesting elements to the world, particularly with the surveillance, political and societal structure ✅ fast-paced plot

What I didn't like ✖ lacking originality; equal parts Red Rising and Divergent with a bit of Hunger Games, X-men and Game of Thrones mixed in ✖ predictable plot twists ✖ Mare: "Anyone can betray anyone." Also Mare: "OMG why did he betray me!?" ✖ it needed more character development Rating 2/5 🌟 Verdict: Recommended for those who want a fun, easy read QOTD: What would your superpower be: wielding water, fire or lightning?
