Genre: fantasy, young adult
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is one of my favourite books in the series, here is why.
What I like ✅ well-written; tells the reader loads of information while cleverly disguising it as natural dialogue
✅ more in-depth explanations about more advanced types of magic
✅ excellent character building, especially with Snape, Dumbledore, Draco and Voldemort
✅ highly emotional with a gut-punching ending
What I didn't like ✖ the romances, in general, were frustrating — Ron and Lavender, and the Harry/Ginny relationship didn't feel organic, it lacked the necessary build-up
✖ the S.P.E.W subplot was frustrating and didn't contribute to the overall plotline
