Review | Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows | J.K. Rowling

Genre

Fantasy, young-adult

The final book in the Harry Potter series, J.K. Rowling attempts to tie up the massive, popular series.

What I like ✅ Well-written, engaging prose

✅ SNAPE; he hit me right in the emotional feels

✅ Some great character revelations and reveals

What I didn't like ✖ The most cringe-worthy prologue ever written

✖ Too many deaths — it made each subsequent death diminish in emotion impact

✖ poor pacing; the trio run around achieving nothing, while Harry mopes in his tent and is fairly useless and mediocre

✖ The end-game romances are unbelievable

✖ Voldemort's lack of menace and dignity

✖ A lot of deus ex machina Rating 3/5 🌟 Verdict

RECOMMENDED

Discussion The Deathly Hallows was my least-favourite book in the Harry Potter series. It just didn't feel like a real Harry Potter book to me. What was your favourite HP book? What was your least favourite?
